I was born in Seoul, where I spent my entire childhood until 19 years old. When my father asked, "Do you want to study in the US now, or wait until your Master's?" I didn't hesitate: "I'll go now." That moment led me to Michigan State University, where I majored in Telecommunications, Information Studies, and Media.
After completing my mandatory military service as an interpreter at U.S. Military Base Camp Humphreys in South Korea, I returned to Michigan to graduate with honors, then built my career in Korea's media and game industries.
Now, I live in ACT, Australia studying Master of Business Information Systems at the Australian National University.
When I announced my decision to study for a Master's in Australia, many asked: "Why leave your position to start over? Why not capitalize on what you've already built?"
For me, the answer stood on two pillars. The first was family. I wanted to give ourselves a gift that money cannot buy—an environment where diversity is the norm and nature is part of daily life. I hoped we would live our lives respecting diverse cultures not just as a concept, but as a lived reality, while learning to live harmoniously with the nature. This, I believed, was the greatest privilege I could offer for our family.
The second pillar was professional sustainability. While my career began in traditional TV and media, I recognized the industry was being reshaped by digital transformation. To ensure my future impact, I needed to evolve from a general strategist to one who also possesses a deep understanding of digital technology.
