Life Journey

From Seoul to the World

I was born in Seoul, where I spent my entire childhood until nineteen. When my father asked, "Do you want to study in the US now, or wait until your Master's?" I didn't hesitate: "I'll go now." That moment led me to Michigan State University, where I majored in Telecommunications, Information Studies, and Media.

After completing my mandatory military service as an interpreter at U.S. Base Camp Humphreys, I returned to Michigan to graduate with honors, then built my career in Korea's media and entertainment industry. I met my wife during these years, married, and welcomed our child in 2022. In 2024, our family moved to Australia.

Now studying at ANU and living in Forde, ACT, my routine reflects a shift toward inner stability. I traded boxing and CrossFit for running, yoga, and pilates. As a Buddhist, I start every day at 5 AM with 108 bows and meditation. Weekends are spent exploring ACT with my family, enjoying the simple joy of our new life together.

The Decision

Why Australia

When I announced my decision to study for a Master's in Australia, many asked: "Why leave a high salary and senior position to start over? Why not capitalize on what you've already built?"

For me, the answer stood on two pillars. The first was family. I wanted to give my child a gift that money cannot buy—an environment where diversity is the norm and nature is part of daily life. I hoped they would grow up respecting different cultures not just as a concept, but as a lived reality, while learning to live harmoniously with the natural world. This, I believed, was the greatest privilege a parent could offer during formative years.

The second pillar was professional sustainability. While my career began in traditional TV and media, I recognized the industry was being reshaped by digital transformation. To ensure my future impact, I needed to evolve from a general strategist to one who also possesses a deep understanding of digital technology.
